How to make your façade fittings against corrosion and maintain a hairline finish?

Have you ever had your facade fittings corroded similar to the below photo?

It is not only about choosing a correct material(e.g. SS304/SS316) but also making a suitable surface treatment is very important.

Today, we are going to introduce one of the surface treatments that we usually do on the façade fittings, the “Electropolishing”.

How does Electropolishing work?

1.Electrolyte
2.Cathode
3.Work-piece to polish (Anode)
4.A particle moving from the work-piece toward the cathode
5.Surface before polishing
6.Surface after polishing

Electropolishing

This process can dissolve extremely small amounts of metal, resulting in a micron-level thickness of surface removal.

Let’s see how the stainless steel plates(we use SS316 here) before/after Electropolishing.

SS316

With this surface treatment, the satin hairline finish on the fittings can be maintained after the process, and keep the raindrops/stains quickly removed as this treatment smooth the surface very finely.
